Lake County deputies are on the lookout for a man who they say is approaching women at apartment complexes in the middle of the night.
Deputies said they’re concerned about the man’s motive.
Deputies said the man approached woman who were alone at Ashton Chase apartments and the Carrington at Four Corners apartments in Clermont.
“We had two incidents on Nov. 30 and a couple (of) days later on Dec. 2, we had to more encounters,” said John Herrell of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. “This fellow approached females late at night at these two apartment complexes.”
Deputies have not said what the man said to make the women feel unsafe.
“Detectives aren’t releasing a lot of specifics about what he does or what he says,” said Herrell said. “But I can tell you that he does make remarks that make the females he encounters unsettled and nervous.”
Investigators worked last week with the witnesses to come up with a sketch in hopes that someone will recognize him and give the information to detectives so that that can talk to him.
Women who live in the complexes said they’ve noticed extra deputies patrolling.
“It’s unfortunate to hear it’s happening in this neighborhood,” said a resident who asked not to be identified. “I will definitely keep my eyes open.”
