Lady Lake proposes cutting back hours bars, restaurants can serve alcohol

LADY LAKE, Fla. — Lady Lake is looking into limiting when you can buy alcohol after the police chief said the city has dealt with incidents at bars open late.

Bars and restaurants can currently sell alcohol until 2 a.m.

The town commission is considering an ordinance that would force bars and restaurants to stop selling alcohol at 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight Friday and Saturday.

One bar manager admitted things get crazy sometimes after midnight and its difficult to deal with. But they said they would lose a lot of money if the ordinance is approved.

The proposed ordinance is being drafted now. The first public reading on it is set for April 17. If it passes, a final vote would be two weeks after that.
