KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A Kissimmee pastor who claimed a demon made him sexually abuse a 16 year old boy is accused of ripping off a member of his own church.
Investigators said Angel Perez-Nieves stole the victim’s personal information and used it to get an alarm system for the church, then never paid the bill.
Perez-Nieves garnered quite the following at the Templo Pentecostal Puerta de Salvacion in Kissimmee.
Under his leadership, the congregation grew to more than 100 members. According to a police report, he is accused of preying on one of them.
“She was confused. She didn’t have an account with them. So that’s why she came and reported it to us,” said Kissimmee Police Department Stacie Miller.
The confusion came when Maria Mota was contacted by an alarm company. A representative told her there was an alarm contract in her name and she was behind the payments. That is when she remembered the pastor had convinced her and other members to hand over their social security numbers and addresses.
“I just warn people that it doesn’t matter who they are, if somebody is asking for your personal information don’t give it out to them,” said Miller.
Police investigated and realized Perez-Nieves forged documents for the contract using Mota’s personal information.
There is a warrant out for his arrest but it won’t be the first time he’s put in jail.
WFTV reported in May when the pastor was arrested for allegedly performing sex acts on a 16 year old boy who goes to his church.
Arrest papers said Perez-Nieves told the boy he was possessed by a demon and didn’t know what he was doing. He bonded out of jail for those crimes.
One church member called the pastor a good man.
The victim refused to talk to WFTV.
Perez-Nieves attorney told WFTV he tried to turn himself in on Thursday but was turned away because the warrant had not been filed.
