ORLANDO, Fla. — After a steady drop in gas prices, the cost of fuel took an unexpected turn last week.

Gas prices went up 16 cents over the course of just four days, marking the largest weekly increase since June, according to AAA.

It will cost Florida drivers an average of $3.32 to fill up on Monday.
“The jump at the pump came as a surprise, as this time a week ago, it appeared that the state’s gas tax holiday would pressure prices lower,” AAA’s Mark Jenkins said.
Florida’s gas tax holiday is in place during the month of October.

“The price for retailers to purchase gasoline jumped more than 30 cents, erasing any of the downward progress created by the 25-cent sales tax holiday,” Jenkins explained.
The auto giant said the increase came after OPEC and its allies announced plans to cut oil production by 2 million barrels daily. sending oil and gas futures to five-week highs.

One silver lining — Floridians are still paying considerably less than the national average, which landed at $3.91 per gallon on Monday.
