BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A judge has signed the death certificate of a Brevard County firefighter who has been missing since 2006.
The body of Brandy Hill has never been found.
“They (the children) realize that their mom is dead, you know, but this is a not closure by any means,” said the victim’s husband, Jeffrey Hall.
Hall left the Malabar fire station in the middle of her shift on August 2006.
Days later, her truck was discovered submerged in a pond in Palm Bay with blood in the cab.
No suspects have been named in her disappearance.
Investigators have always eyed a Palm Bay firefighter who may have been the last person to talk to her.
Search crews checked ponds and the woods, but her body was never found.
Judge Lisa Davidson granted a request by Hall’s daughter on Tuesday.
Taylor Hall was 10 years old when her mother vanished.
She sought the death certificate to bring some closure to the family.
State law allows a certificate to be issued if someone is absent from their home for more than five years, with no reasonable explanation.
“It’s somewhat unusual. You have it time-to-time when someone vanishes,” said family attorney Morris Richardson.
Jeffrey Hall still holds out hope that someone will come forward with information about what may have happened to his wife.
“There’s somebody out there. There’s definitely somebody out there. It’s just time for them to come forward,” he said.
Jeffrey Hall was considered a suspect, but was cleared years ago.
A police spokeswoman said the case remains open and active, but there haven’t been any solid leads.
