MIAMI, Fla. — President Donald Trump was applauded for the death of the top Iranian general while speaking to a group of evangelicals in South Florida.
Qassim Soleimani was killed at a Baghdad airport Thursday in an American drone strike that was ordered by Trump.

Trump said Soleimani was planning “a very major attack” on American diplomats and military personnel, and his death should serve as a warning to terrorists.
“He was plotting attacks against Americans. But now, we’ve insured that his atrocities have been stopped for good,” Trump told the crowd.
The United States is sending 3,500 additional troops to the Middle East. The Iranian supreme leader is promising revenge against the U.S. Trump said he is prepared for any response from Iran.
Trump’s decision has been met with praise by evangelical leaders.
