ORLANDO, Fla. — Great news, Central Florida!

Brian Shields will return to Channel 9 Eyewitness News This Morning, beginning Monday.

Shields made the surprise announcement on the show Friday.

“I missed you. I missed being there for you when the weather was bad,” he said. “Channel 9 is the place where I feel I can best serve our community, I could best serve you.”

Shields left Channel 9 in November after almost 15 years at the station -- but his absence was brief.

“To be able to be back together with Jamie, Nancy (and) Deneige -- we really all work together as a team,” he said. “I take a lot of pride knowing that we can be there for you.”
