ORLANDO, Fla. — The iconic Lake Eola swan boats are out of service this month.

They were taken out of the water so a new dock could be built.
The city of Orlando said a larger dock is necessary to accommodate the four new swan boats recently purchased.

Construction on the $105,000 project began this week.
“If it’s for the betterment of the community and Orlando in general, I think it’s amazing. It’s iconic and we need to preserve it,” said Feluis Cotto, an Orlando resident.

The city said the swan boats should be available for rental from the first week of April.
