Human remains found in wooded area of Flagler County

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — An investigation is underway in Flagler County after human remains were found Wednesday.

Investigators said a man made the discovery while trying to retrieve a drone that landed in a wooded area in the Flagler County part of Hunter’s Ridge in Ormond Beach behind Ashford Lakes Drive.

The man was about 100 feet into the woods when he made the discovery.

Investigators believe the remains may have been there for more than a year.

They searched through the woods looking for any other remains.

A Flagler County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said cold and missing person cases are being reviewed.

The spokesperson said it’s too early to determine the age or gender of the remains.

There were no obvious signs of trauma to the remains.

No other details were released.
