City officials are seeking a development partner for a 3.5-acre portion of the site at 201 E. Dakin Ave.

The city wants a branded full-service hotel on the site, with the potential to either reimagine the 40,000-square-foot Civic Center or demolish it to add updated meeting space.

“The project is expected to boost the city’s conference and trade show business, increase tourism and create jobs with the mix of accommodations, meeting space and amenities,” the request for proposals (RFP) stated. The city’s RFP also cited the hotel may bring additional foot traffic and business to its historic downtown.
