Homebuilder snags big site in Apopka. Here’s what’s coming.

M/I Homes Inc. aims to start development of a 225-home community in Apopka in the fourth quarter of this year, Director of Land Acquisition Jared Wilken told Orlando Business Journal.

M/I Homes (NYSE: MHO) on June 7 paid $6.8 million for roughly 56 acres off State Road 414, according to Orange County records. The Columbus, Ohio-based homebuilder will develop 225 homesites on the property, which sits in one of Orange County’s hottest residential markets.

The community will include a mix of townhomes, as well as 55-, 60- and 65-foot single-family home lots, Wilken said. The townhomes will range in size from 1,600-1,800 square feet, while the single-family houses will vary from 1,700 to 4,700 square feet.
