ORLANDO, Fla. — An executive order signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday suspended all local mask mandates in the state. But that doesn’t mean Floridians can toss their masks.

There are still several places that can require people to wear face coverings.

Orange County was the largest Central Florida county to have its mask mandate struck down by the governor on Monday, just days after releasing its step-by-step plan to phase out masks.

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings told Channel 9 on Tuesday that he will speak with other county leaders about options moving forward.
Demings called the governor’s move “political” and told Channel 9 that county attorneys are exploring legal options for now.
