Here’s the latest on planned new Publix-anchored project in Apopka

Construction plans have been submitted in Apopka for the first phase of a new mixed-use development that appears set to include a 48,387-square-foot Publix grocery store as its anchor. If this comes to fruition, it would be the third Publix in Apopka — and the first one on the south side of town.

The construction plans for the 28-acre Shoppes at East Shore mixed-use project were submitted by developer Effingham, Illinois-based WMG Development and the Orlando office of Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc., which is involved as the project’s civil engineer and landscape architect.

While nearby grocery stores are an important factor for prospective homebuyers or investors to consider before a purchase, they also indicate a lot about the local home market, Attom Executive Vice President of Market Intelligence Rick Sharga said in an analysis of home values and returns in ZIP codes across the country near grocery stores.
