Remembering Miya: Friends, family gather for Miya Marcano’s funeral in South Florida

Family and friends gathered Thursday in South Florida for a funeral for Miya Marcano.

Her family previously held a celebration of life ceremony for her Wednesday night.

“She had a magical way of bringing joy every time she walked into the room,” Marcano’s cousin Kaley Marcano said during the service. “No one who met her could forget her smile.”

The 19-year-old Valencia College student was reported missing late last month after she missed a flight to visit family.

Her body was found eight days later.

Her disappearance set off a massive search through Central Florida before she was found dead in a wooded area in Orange County.

Detectives said her co-worker, Armando Caballero, killed her.

Marcano’s funeral service began at 11 a.m. Thursday at a Cooper City church and lasted several hours.

“She was just a lovable person who always smiled that put your feelings first. she had a laugh to make you laugh,” her uncle said during the service.
