ORLANDO, Fla. — Wanna get shredded?
The Orlando Police Department can help you — at least in regard to your sensitive documents.

OPD knows you probably have personal papers you’d rather not just toss in a trash can.

So the department is hosting a shred event this weekend to help you safely destroy them.
It’s just one effort by OPD in its National Night Out crime prevention initiative.
Organizers remind residents that identity theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes.

They said paper sources are still the most common means for criminals to get their hands on your personal information.
Police recommend that you shred documents with your signature, account numbers, social security number and medical or legal information.
Here are details of Saturday’s shredding event:
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022
- Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Location: Orlando Police Headquarters, 1250 W. South Street, Orlando, FL 32805
