TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis said Floridians need to prepare but not panic as Hurricane Ian tracks toward the Gulf Coast.
DeSantis said it is important for Florida residents to know whether they live in an evacuation zone and to have a plan to evacuate if needed or to stay put.

For those on the Gulf Coast who do need to evacuate, DeSantis said he is suspending tolls in the Tampa Bay area.

Kevin Guthrie, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, said Floridians still have time to get ready for the storm.

“Do not panic, there is still time to get your preparations in order and evacuate if necessary,” Guthrie said.
