Gov. DeSantis eliminates FSA in all Florida public schools

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that the Florida Standards Assessments will be eliminated in all Florida public schools.

The governor said the FSA will be replaced with progress monitoring.

Students in third through 10th grade will take English and math tests throughout the year.

Results from the final test of the year will be used to calculate school ratings.

The FSA was in place to help Florida students succeed by measuring education gains and progress, according to the Florida Department of Education’s website.

DeSantis said the state will move to progress monitoring for the 2022-2023 school year.
