ORLANDO, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis nominated former Orange County Judge Jamie Grosshans to the Florida Supreme Court on Monday.
A Winter Garden resident, Judge Grosshans is currently on the 5th District Court of Appeal.
The Florida Supreme Court had ordered DeSantis to appoint another candidate for the high court by 5 p.m. Monday.

On Friday, the Florida Supreme Court rejected his initial selection, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Renatha Francis.

The justices said she didn’t meet a requirement of being a member of the Florida Bar for 10 years.
The legal fight over this started in July when state lawmaker Geraldine Thompson, of Windermere, asked the court to find the appointment violated the state constitution.
DeSantis tweeted around 10:30 a.m. that he will announce a replacement Monday.
