The city commission on August 25 directed staff to create a request for proposals (RFP) for properties that it can move the post office operations from its current site at 300 N. New York Ave.
The city wants to expand its roughly 11-acre central park by buying the existing post office site from the U.S. Postal Service.

The criteria likely will be for the sites to be about 2 to 2.5 acres, allowing space for a 23,000-square-foot, single-story building and 137 surface parking spots, City Manager Randy Knight said during the meeting.
The city will advertise the RFP through channels including its social media accounts.
