Gas leak detected at Orlando VA Domiciliary

LAKE NONA, Fla. — The gas leak was said to have happened in a dormitory for the veterans on campus on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said the Orlando VA domiciliary staff noticed a gas smell in the Domiciliary building at the Orlando VA Medical Center.

Facility maintenance staff located a gas valve leak, officials said.

The Department of Veterans Affairs said the domiciliary residents and staff were temporarily evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

The Orlando Fire Department arrived, isolated the gas leak, and cleared the area.

The Department of Veterans Affairs said there was no explosion.

According to a news release, two employees involved were taken to the hospital for precautionary measures and released without injuries.
