Funeral arrangements, memorial announced for Orange County deputy killed in line of duty

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings has announced the funeral arrangements for Deputy Norm Lewis.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Orlando on South John Young Parkway. Lewis’ funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.

A separate funeral will be held later in Port Charlotte, where Lewis grew up.

An official GoFundMe page has been set up for Lewis' family. A GoFundMe account was also set up for Orlando Master Sgt. Debra Clayton.

Lewis was struck and killed Monday morning while responding to the officer-involved shooting of Orlando Master Sgt. Debra Clayton.

Troopers said he was hit on Pine Hills Road and Balboa Drive at about 9:43 a.m. The van was traveling north on Pine Hills Road as the deputy was traveling south.

The driver of the van, Billie Jarrard, 78, of Clermont, made a left turn into the direct path of the motorcycle, which struck the right side of the van, FHP said.

"We are certainly miss him. He was just a joy to work around and our agency has gone through a process in the last 24 hours of going through sadness. We are very, very focused on bringing to justice the individual responsible for this tragedy," said Demings.

Lewis was an 11-year veteran in the Orange County Sheriff's Office.%
