Full of hot air: Florida deputies respond to report of alligator in storage shed, find realistic pool float

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — The sighting of an alligator inside a Polk County storage shed inflated concerns that led to deputies being called to investigate.

Those worries deflated when deputies said they discovered that the large scaly creature was full of nothing but hot air.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy found the gator, but soon realized it was nothing but a realistic looking pool floatie.

“He came…he saw…he conquered the beast,” the department posted on Twitter Wednesday along with photos of the deputy and the inflated gator.

In the hashtags of their post, the Sheriff’s Office suggested that next time their officers might be called upon to wrestle a pool noodle.
