This pattern will continue to bring scattered storms this weekend, some by the lunch hour.

Chief meteorologist Tom Terry said a huge “heat dome” over the Deep South and the southwest United States is contorting the jet stream into bringing pieces of mid to upper level energy through the southeast and Florida.

“A piece of this is helping bring scattered storms this evening, and occasional ripples of energy diving our way will keep scattered storms into the weekend,” he said. “We’ll likely keep this additional storm energy pattern with us through at least early next week.”
