VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A former teacher at New Smyrna Beach High School is facing charges after deputies said she engaged in a sexual relationship with a student.
Officials said 28-year-old Megan Parris turned herself in after a judge signed a warrant for her arrest for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student multiple times.

An investigation into Parris' behavior began in March after a student reported her and the victim to school officials. Detectives determined Parris had sexual encounters with the victim off campus, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
Parris was later placed on administrative leave and has not returned to teaching.
Friends of Parris said after she was put on leave, she confided in them that she did have sex with the teen, according to an arrest report.
One friend said Parris had told her her marriage was "in a bad place" and that she "just liked the attention," according to the report.
The teen told investigators the pair had sex twice in her car by the beach and that Parris had messaged him nude photos.
Parris' attorney is questioning these claims after deputies were not able to find any DNA evidence when they swabbed her vehicle or any texts or photos sent between the two after checking their phones.
Parris faces a charge of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
Channel 9 reporter Mike Springer said Parris posted her $25,000 bond and was released from jail Friday morning.
The principal of the school released the following statement on Facebook Friday morning:
