VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A former Volusia County deputy accused of molesting a young girl in his neighborhood faced a judge Wednesday.
Edward Lueck, 69, a former deputy in the judicial unit, accepted a plea deal that and was taken to jail by the same deputies he used to work with. He will serve 15 years in prison, followed by 25 years of sex offender probation.
Lueck didn't expect to go to jail Wednesday, because his sentencing is in June and became upset when the judge would not allow him several more weeks of freedom.
"Forget it. If I'm going to go to jail today, I can't do it. I've got other things to do (and) take care of prior to this," Lueck said.
Prosecutors revoked his plea deal, but after discussing it with his attorney, Lueck decided to accept it.
Lueck pleaded no contest to 19 counts of child pornography and a charge for molesting a young child. Detectives said he forced a young girl to have sex and showed her pornography in Daytona Beach.
Lueck was never promoted in the sheriff's office and was suspended twice for violating polices during his 21-year career.
