Food-related properties dominate top 2024 real estate stories

In a year of big deals and major developments — including a hotel on I-Drive selling for more than $1 billion and counties and cities battling for land — the real estate stories that drew the most eyes to the Orlando Business Journal were about restaurant spaces and grocery stores.

In fact, three of the top five stories revolved around where food was coming or where it had been. That makes sense as everyone cares about their next great meal.

In addition, restaurants and grocery stores double as indicators of the health of a neighborhood and where more development might be coming. Small changes in the shopping landscape can mean big changes to the surrounding demographics.
