Florida Tech scores grant to expand aviation enrollment in Melbourne

Florida Tech is growing its number of aviation students to meet demand for new pilots.

The Melbourne-based private college — known officially as the Florida Institute of Technology — just received a $1 million grant from the Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust, which will allow it to buy new flight simulators. The award comes as the Florida Tech Aviation program added four new Piper Pilot 100i planes, which comes after it previously acquired four planes in May.

Alongside those additions, student enrollment in the program is increasing.
