TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa teacher is under fire after being accused of violating Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law.

Jenna Barbee said she showed her 5th-grade class the movie “Strange World,” because of its environmental themes.
The Disney movie also features a character who is gay.
A school board member, whose child was in the class, reported Barbee to the Florida Department of Education as a possible violation of the law.
The state’s new law says when dealing with older children like Barbee’s students, instruction must be age- or developmentally appropriate.
