Florida Supreme Court to review proposal to allow vote on recreational marijuana

ORLANDO, Fla. — Recreational marijuana is a step closer to being legal in Florida.

A proposed constitutional amendment has cleared its first big hurdle.

Country music stars The Bellamy Brothers launched the Smart and Safe Florida Campaign.

Watch: Nearly 300K Floridians sign petition to get recreational marijuana on 2024 ballot

The campaign has received more than 223,000 signatures, meaning the Florida Supreme Court will review the amendment.

The justices will look at the legal language, to make sure it is clear enough for voters to understand.
