Florida reports second day of 5,000+ new COVID-19 cases, including record-high increase in Orange County

ORLANDO, Fla. — For the second day in a row, Florida reported more than 5,000 new cases of COVID-19 in the state on Thursday.

The 5,004 new cases bring Florida’s total cases to 114,018. Florida also reported an additional 46 deaths, bringing the state’s death toll to 3,327.

Six of the deaths reported Thursday were in Central Florida, including two in Orange County and four in Polk County.

Florida health officials report that in the past 24 hours, 201 more people have been hospitalized in the state due to the virus. As of Thursday morning, the state reported 13,775 total hospitalizations.

Of those being tested for the virus, officials report 6.3% of them have tested positive across the state.
