ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Florida reported 11,914 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.
In addition to the new cases, the state reported 145 virus-related deaths bringing the state’s death toll to 24,965.

As of Wednesday, the state has now reported 1,601,011 cases of COVID-19.
The latest cases include 2,963 in Central Florida. An additional 34 deaths were also reported in our area.
Counties across the state are continuing to push for additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Appointments for the next COVID-19 vaccination event in Volusia County booked up within 25 minutes on Wednesday.
The county said the appointments for people aged 65 and older opened at 9 a.m. and were full by 9:25 a.m. Those who were able to make an appointment will receive the first dose of the Moderna vaccine at the Volusia County Fairgrounds.

Starting Wednesday, COVID-19 vaccine locations in Seminole County will require a proof of residency to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Other counties will follow suit at a later date.
The announcement was made Tuesday morning during a news conference with Gov. Ron DeSantis.
To receive the shot, you must show a Florida ID or utility bill.
