ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported on Sunday that 8,401 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the state.
1,201,566 people have now tested positive for the virus in the state since the beginning of the pandemic.

Of the new cases reported, 1,581 were in Central Florida. Orange County reported the highest local increases with 492 new cases.
The state also added 34,527 more negative test results, bringing the state total of negative tests to 7,055,519.
According to state records, Florida has conducted 8,257,085 COVID-19 tests.

Florida health officials also reported that 144 more residents were hospitalized for the virus since Saturday.
Sunday’s report also shows that 69 more people have died in Florida due to COVID-19, including two non-residents.

A total of 20,861 people have died from COVID-19 in Florida, records show.
Of the new deaths reported on Sunday, 10 were in Central Florida.
