Florida reports more than 10,100 new COVID-19 cases, 30 coronavirus-related deaths

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported more than 10,000 new coronavirus cases in the state on Sunday.

Officials reported 10,105 new COVID-19 cases, a sharp increase from the 4,544 cases reported Saturday.

State records show this is the highest number of COVID-19 cases reported in the state since July.

Orange County reported the highest number on new cases in Central Florida with 745.

The record-breaking surge in U.S. coronavirus cases in the past week is being traced not only to large events considered “superspreader” happenings, but to smaller gatherings such as family get-togethers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
