Florida reports 8,000 new COVID-19 cases, 142 virus-related deaths

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida reported 8,002 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.

In addition to the new cases, the state reported 142 virus-related deaths bringing the state’s death toll to 24,657.

As of Monday, the state has now reported 1,579,281 cases of COVID-19.

The latest cases include 1,833 in Central Florida. An additional 19 deaths were also reported in our area.

Counties across the state are continuing to push for additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Appointments for the next COVID-19 vaccination event in Volusia County will open on Wednesday at 9 a.m.

The county said the appointments will be made available to anyone age 65 and older to receive the first dose of the Moderna vaccine at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. Click here for more information.
