Florida reports 7,600 new COVID-19 cases as the state’s virus-related death toll tops 29,000

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida’s statewide COVID-19-related death toll topped 29,000 on Friday.

The milestone comes as health officials reported 190 additional deaths related to the virus.

Of the total number of deaths in the state, 28,565 have been Florida residents.

Of the latest deaths, 28 were reported in Central Florida.

On Friday, the state also reported an additional 7,617 new COVID-19 cases. That brings the state up to 1,814,422 cases of the virus so far in the state since the pandemic began.

Of the latest cases, 1,624 cases were reported in Central Florida, including 408 in Orange County.
