ORLANDO, Fla. — State health officials Tuesday linked another 56 deaths to the coronavirus, pushing Florida’s death toll to closer to 17,000.
The data revealed an increase in the day-over-day total compared to Monday, when 20 deaths were reported by the Florida Department of Health.
Ten local residents were among the latest casualties.
All Central Florida counties, except Orange and Marion, reported at least one additional death Tuesday.

Since the pandemic took hold earlier this year, records show 16,708 people have died statewide due to COVID-19-related illness, a count that includes 203 who weren’t Florida residents.
Tuesday’s data also revealed 4,298 new cases of the virus statewide, a climb from the 2,385 and 3,377 cases reported Sunday and Monday, respectively.
To date, there have been 786,311 cases of coronavirus statewide.
An additional 25,445 negative test results reported in Tuesday’s data brought the total number of negative tests to 5,228,181 in Florida since the health crisis began.

Osceola: 14,044 (+66) - 198 deaths (+1)
Seminole: 10,145 (+51) - 238 deaths (+1)
Polk: 22,762 (+128) - 615 deaths (+1)
Volusia: 12,589 (+69) - 318 deaths (+2)
Brevard: 11,249 (+166) - 368 deaths (+2)
Flagler: 2,103 (+18) - 38 deaths (+1)
Lake: 8,520 (+41) - 226 deaths (+1)
Marion: 10,755 (+49) - 347 deaths (+0)
Sumter: 2,869 (+14) - 85 deaths (+1)
