ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 5,520 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
This is a decrease from the 6,906 cases reported Saturday and the 7,121 added Friday.
Of the new cases reported Sunday, 870 were in Central Florida.

Records show a total of 2,124,233 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Florida since the start of the pandemic.
State health officials also reported nine virus-related deaths on Sunday, including two people who were not Florida residents.
Of the new deaths reported, only one was in Central Florida. Several counties lowered these death totals since Saturday, including Lake County which reported seven fewer COVID-19 deaths.
This change typically happens as deaths are reclassified by state health officials when new data is processed.
State records show 34,685 COVID-19-related deaths have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

COVID-19 vaccination efforts also continue across the state.
Health records show 7,213,793 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in Florida.
Including single and two-dose shots, 11,161,697 vaccines have been administered in the state.
