ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 4,943 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
This daily report follows five straight days with more than 5,000 new cases recorded in the state.
Of the new cases added Sunday, 1,116 were in Central Florida.

Records show 2,044,005 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

State health officials also reported 36 new virus-related deaths on Sunday.
Of the new deaths on Sunday, two were in Central Florida. One COVID-19 death was reported in both Orange and Brevard counties.
Records show 33,819 people have died from COVID-19 complications in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

COVID-19 vaccination efforts also continue across Florida with 8,469,948 doses administered in the state.
Records show 5,604,283 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine shot in Florida.
