Florida reports 4,690 new COVID-19 cases, 107 virus-related deaths on Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 4,690 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. This is fewer than the 5,975 cases reported Friday and the 6,118 reported Thursday.

Of the new cases recorded, 1,074 were in Central Florida. Orange County reported the most local cases with 311.

State records show 1,940,897 COVID-19 cases have been recorded since the start of the pandemic.

The state also added 23,282 negative test results on Saturday. There have been 9,319,872 negative COVID-19 tests recorded in Florida.

State health officials also reported 107 virus-related deaths on Saturday, including nine people who were not Florida residents.

Of the new deaths reported, 39 were in Central Florida. Polk County reported 10 new COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours. Orange and Marion counties both added eight new deaths.

State records show 32,200 people have died from COVID-19 complications in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

COVID-19 vaccine efforts also continue across the state. Records show 5,213,322 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the state.

Most of the doses have been from the two-shot vaccine, but Florida has also confirmed that 1,356 people have received the single-dose vaccine shot.
