ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported 3,231 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
This is less than the 3,977 cases reported Saturday, and 4,165 added Friday.
Of the new cases reported, 755 were in Central Florida.

State records show a total of 2,269,806 cases have been recorded in Florida since the start of the pandemic.

State health officials also reported 33 virus-related deaths Sunday, including two people who were not Florida residents.
Of the new deaths reported, three were in Central Florida. Brevard County added two deaths, and Sumter County reported one.
Records show 36,445 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in the state since the start of the pandemic.
COVID-19 vaccination efforts also continue across Florida.
Records show 9,265,816 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in the state.
Including single and two-dose shots, 15,666,774 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered.

The Food and Drug Administration is also expected to authorize emergency use of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12 to 15 by early next week.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory Committee has a meeting on Wednesday to discuss adopting the FDA’s age-expansion recommendation.
