Florida reports 175 deaths linked to COVID-19 and 2K new cases of the virus

ORLANDO, Fla. — Another 175 people in Florida have died from coronavirus-related illness, the Florida Department of Health announced Wednesday.

The daily data shows an increase in deaths compared to those reported Tuesday, when 106 deaths were noted by state officials.

Since the pandemic began, Florida’s death toll has climbed to 14,488.

That number includes 14,317 residents and 171 non-residents.

Wednesday’s data from the Florida Department of Health also revealed 1,948 new cases of the virus, a drop from the 3,266 cases reported Tuesday.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 706,516 cases of COVID-19 recorded in Florida.

To date, the number of negative tests recorded by state health officials totals 4,594,668, an increase of 9,120 since Tuesday.

37 local residents were among the latest 175 statewide casualties, including 12 people from Orange County.

Osceola and Volusia counties each reported five deaths since Tuesday; Seminole, Brevard and Lake counties each reported three.

Polk and Flagler counties each recorded two new deaths; Marion and Sumter counties reported one each.

Flagler: 1,751 (+7) - 27 deaths (+2)

Lake: 7,542 (+25) - 193 deaths (+3)

Marion: 9,774 (+14) - 290 deaths (+1)

Sumter:  2,313 (+62) -  70 deaths (+1)
