Florida reports 1,500 new COVID-19 cases, 48 additional deaths

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida reported 1,533 new COVID-19 cases across the state Monday.

The new cases bring the total in the state since the pandemic began to 736,024.

On Monday, the state also reported 48 additional COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the state’s death toll of residents and nonresidents to 15,600.

Of the most recent COVID-19-related deaths, 10 were reported in Central Florida, including three in Volusia County, two each in Orange, Brevard and Marion counties, and one in Lake County.

As of Monday, the number of negative COVID-19 tests in the state reached 4,831,259, an increase of 15,219 since Sunday.

On Thursday, the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County said it has one of the highest COVID-19 testing rates in the state.

Don Walker, Brevard County director of communications, said Brevard County’s positivity rate has averaged anywhere between 4% and 12% on a daily basis. Click here to read more.
