ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Coronavirus cases are increasing in Florida at a larger rate than anywhere else in the country.
Statistician Eric Solomon said he was surprised to see that Florida has the highest percentage increase of all 50 states.
In fact, infections in Florida have gone up by 350% since the beginning of June, Solomon said.
#Florida might not have the most cases, but cases are increasing faster here than anywhere else! A local statistician explains his analysis at 11pm. @WFTV #WFTV @MarthaSugalski @GWarmothWFTV #COVID19 pic.twitter.com/JvC5faX6hf

“It tells you the infection is spreading rapidly in the state,” Solomon said.
Arizona has the second highest growth rate at 336%, followed by Texas with 191%.
BY contrast, infections in New York, once a hotspot, are down by 51%.
Both Orange and Seminole counties have more cases in June alone than all the previous months combined.
Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino said 58% of all cases since the pandemic began have been diagnosed since June 11. And in the last two weeks, Pino said, the median age of those infected is 29 years old.

“People may not have a personal experience with the virus, but that doesn’t mean that the virus isn’t spreading and it isn’t important to be aware of where it’s spreading,” Solomon said.
