ORLANDO, Fla. — The average price of a gallon of gas in Florida has jumped more than 20 cents in just the last week, according to AAA.
It’s the state’s highest overall price ever recorded at just under $4.40 per gallon.

Even before the most recent spike, data shows drivers across the country were worried about rising prices at the pump.
“The concern about one’s financial situation has eclipsed the fear of COVID,” Amir Eylon said.
Eylon is the CEO of Longwoods International, a market research consultancy firm that specializes in travel and tourism.

Its most recent travel sentiment study found that 37-percent of people believe gas prices will “greatly impact” their decision to travel in the next six months.
At the same time, only 6-percent of respondents said they would have no impact at all.
Eylon says their data shows more people still plan to take road trips rather than fly.
“Because the air fares have risen even more exponentially than the fuel prices,” Eylon said.

Eylon says one silver lining is that people still want to travel coming out of the pandemic, and very few plan to cancel their trips because of inflation or high gas prices.
