ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Freedom Summer sales tax holiday started on Monday, allowing Florida shoppers to skip paying sales tax on a variety of event tickets and outdoor items.
The sales tax holiday, which runs May 29 to Sept. 4, applies to admission to music, sporting and cultural events; state park annual passes; certain boating and water activity supplies; athletic equipment and more.

According to the Florida Department of Revenue, the 2022 Freedom Summer sales tax holiday saved Floridians an estimated $106 million, which was a slight increase from the $105.3 million saved in 2021.
The most popular items purchased during the sales tax holiday last year were sporting goods followed by camping supplies and children’s toys.
