2 suffer minor injuries after small plane crashes on I-95 in Flagler County

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A plane has crashed on northbound I-95 in Flagler County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol’s website, the plane went down at mile marker 279 just south of Old Dixie Parkway near Palm Coast.

The aircraft is a 1949 CESSNA 195 and registered to a resident of Port Orange.

Troopers said the single-engine plane lost power and the pilot attempted an emergency landing on the northbound lanes of I-95 and one of the wings of the planes hit a tractor trailer and went into the tree line.

Troopers said the pilot, a 34-year-old Port Orange man, and the co-pilot, a 57-year-old Port Orange man, exited the aircraft on their own with minor injuries.

Investigators said the pilot took off from the New Smyrna Beach area and was traveling to Flagler Airport.
