Fishermen find 25 kilos of cocaine off Brevard County coast

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — What started as a fishing trip off the Brevard County coast turned into a stunning discovery.

Two fishermen spotted what looked like a log in the water about 25 miles from Port Canaveral.

When they got closer to inspect, they found a floating bale full of cocaine.

The packages were marked with a distinctive scorpion logo.

They contacted the Coast Guard and were met at a boat ramp by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the 25 kilos had a watertight seal and were branded by a cartel for tracking purposes.

Deputies said the bricks of cocaine have a street value of $1.7 million.
