‘Landmark’ New Smyrna Beach tiki bar damaged by fire

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A tiki bar in New Smyrna Beach was damaged by a fire Thursday morning.

Firefighters said the Ocean Breeze Tiki Bar was “fully involved” in flames around 7 a.m.

The Volusia County Professional Firefighters Association posted information about the fire as well as a photo of the damage to social media.

The tiki bar is located on Flagler Avenue.

Mayor Fred Cleveland said the bar is a landmark in the community.

“It’s a tough day for New Smyrna,” he said.

Investigators said people last left the bar at 2 a.m. before someone passing by noticed smoke and called 911 around 7 a.m. to report the fire.

“Something bizarre has happened here and fire investigators are going to get to the bottom of it,” Cleveland said.
