PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — Brevard County Fire Rescue assisted Canaveral Fire Rescue with a fire at a SpaceX building on Port Canaveral, officials said.
A person driving in the area saw flames coming from the roof of the building at Magellan and Grouper roads shortly before 5 p.m., said Assistant Fire Chief for Canaveral Fire Rescue Chris Quinones.
Brevard County Fire Rescue officials told Channel 9 that they had four fire engines, one ladder truck, three ambulances and a district supervisor on the scene.
Officials said it was the decking on the roof material that caught fire. It was put out quickly.
"There was no damage to any SpaceX equipment or hardware as a result of the fire," a SpaceX spokesman said. "The cause of the fire is under investigation."
A firefighter was taken to a hospital for possible heat exhaustion.
