The home’s distance from the main access road presented a challenge, firefighters said.

Fire crews had to run a half-mile of hose from their tankers.

Investigators said two people were home when the fire broke out, but made it out safely.

Officials have determined that an electric smoker — placed too close to the home’s wood siding — caused the fire.
